How to Leave Negative Energy in the Daytime and Make Sure Your Sleep Has a Positive Impact
Before bed, we are prone to feeling more depressed, lonely, and negative, which isn’t necessarily good for having a good sleep and waking up ready to take on the day. Negative thoughts or energies that may be brewing throughout the day really do keep you up at night, making it all the more detrimental to our sleep patterns. Harboring negative energy is a serious way to usher in insomnia and depression.
One of the first things you’re going to want to do to clear negative energy surrounding you is to make sure your home is a space that breeds positivity and cleanliness. Open up some windows, light a candle or some incense (if you’re looking for somewhere to start try Twilight, ONB’s signature candle) and make sure you feel happy and calm when walking in that front door. Clutter and mess is a distraction from the positive, and some easy ways to make your home feel more tidy is by making your bed when you wake up, and making sure all clothes are in the closet!
Another way of removing negative energy is to practice some stretching, yoga, or mindfulness rituals before bedtime. This will ensure that your body and mind are connected, centering you and your goals for the next day. Set an intention to release your negative energy or the negative energies surrounding you with a simple phrase like I am free from negative energy and releasing myself from what no longer serves me. Then, imagine a ball of light in your chest, glowing with each inhale and exhale. Expand and contract this light with your chest, and then spread it all over your body and feel it pulse in your arms, tummy, legs, fingertips and toe tips. Finally, shoot this ball of light with your breath out of your body in all directions, expelling whatever bad juju comes along with it. This is sure to make you feel more centered and more positive in your own skin.
For the rest of the night, breathe with purpose and intention like you did in the exercise above. Continue this intentional breathing and pair it with your favorite calming music or podcast to ease yourself into a more relaxed state. Here at ONB we love Sade, Erykah Badu, or some Chaka Khan to get us vibing at our highest frequency. Keep calm, keep it cute, and keep it positive to ensure a more positive and consistent sleep.
